Welcome to my Blog!

This blog is my way of recording events in my life for my own amusement & as a journal of sorts. I really don't expect anyone else to follow this. I am all for DOING, not watching or reading about adventures! However if anything I have done or am talking about doing on here inspires you to "GO FOR IT", then I've done my good deed of the day.

Beginning a new chapter of my life, flying solo after many years of married life, in a new area of my native state, Missouri (MO) & reestablishing a very simple, basic lifestyle on a spot of raw land.

If you've made it this far.....thanks for being interested in what I'm doing & coming along for the ride. I hope you enjoy my stories about my whaz going on in my life. Let our journey begin! Shift colors.

MO to CA Road Trip-week & a day out/Friends

Today marks my week & a day until I take off for my most ambitious road trip yet! I still can't believe this trip is going to actually happen & that I am doing this!! Have I made any additional preparations the past two weeks? Nah....Well no, I did get a gas can for the trip.

My friend Rob (that is going on this adventure with me) knows from his previous trips that in NV it isn't uncommon to go literally hundreds of miles without any gas stations being available (And I thought driving thru ND & SD was desolate!). Rob recommended I pack a couple gals of gas with me.

Now I'm not really keen on driving around with a potential bomb on the back of my bike but have known & walked enough mutual "miles" with Rob to know to pay attention to what he sez. So will take the usual safety precautions & hope for the best. Remember the saying, "Plan for the worst, hope for the best." At least death by explosion hopefully would be quick!

I am glad I had the foresight to get the bike mechanically ready to go last fall & have taken Jezabel (name of my bike) out enough times recently to be satisfied that she is ready to go. So now what?

Well knowing me, I will wait until the eve of the 13th to throw some gear into my grip, then get up in the morn & just go. My maps await, as does my gear & grip.

As long as Jezabel is mechanically sound, the house sitters are happy, my animal companions are taken care of & the family knows my whereabouts, its all good. So until then, guess I will try to wrap up the few homeplace things one needs to tend to before embarking on a trip like this!

Hmmm....what needs to be done so I can take a couple weeks off NOT doing my usual chores? The very concept of spending time without any responsibilities is something to ponder. I don't know what I would do if I had nothing to do all day. Don't get me wrong. I do much enjoy a day when I can just putz around my home & not feel pressured to DO a task. Very rarely if ever have days like this. Every day animals NEED to be fed, etc.... Can't skip these tasks. But on the rare day that this is the only thing that gets done is rare. This holiday break will be much appreciated.

My intent is to log each day's activities & photos of things on this site so I can compile all in one spot & to let any interested family & friends know what I am doing. I am especially grateful for my Dear Friend(s) BruSann that are watching my place. Couldn't do this without them! I love you guys!!

Speaking of friends, reconnected with an old USN friend today. And no, it isn't Emma Stone.

I owe this woman SO VERY MUCH, its not even funny. She has always believed in me, was instrumental in getting me back into the USN my last hitch & is one of the few people I admire.

Every once in awhile we check in with each other & its like no time has passed since we last spoke. Today was another one of those times.

Thank you Great Mystery! I am so very fortunate to be a piece of a community with quality people in my life!!
