Welcome to my Blog!

This blog is my way of recording events in my life for my own amusement & as a journal of sorts. I really don't expect anyone else to follow this. I am all for DOING, not watching or reading about adventures! However if anything I have done or am talking about doing on here inspires you to "GO FOR IT", then I've done my good deed of the day.

Beginning a new chapter of my life, flying solo after many years of married life, in a new area of my native state, Missouri (MO) & reestablishing a very simple, basic lifestyle on a spot of raw land.

If you've made it this far.....thanks for being interested in what I'm doing & coming along for the ride. I hope you enjoy my stories about my whaz going on in my life. Let our journey begin! Shift colors.

Day 1-Hermann, MO to KCKS

Day 1/Hermann MO to Edwardsville KS
Distance today: 207.87 miles
Total to date: 207.87 miles

Today went without a hitch. Motorcycle ran great, my body didn't get sore from driving, no morons tried to kill me. Was a good day.

Left my place about 1130 after checking the weather radar. No rain on the radar between where I was departing from & my destination in KS, where my travelling buddy, Robert, lives. But the weather folks lie....

Didn't get very far out of the Hermann city limits before getting into some rain but was dressed for the occasion & had my cover over my bag so no worries. Did see some very impressive storm clouds when on the road but fortunately was not actually IN the heart of any storms, just skirted the outside edges of the storms.

Got rained on, then the sun would come out, then got rained on again. But expected ALOT worse & more rain so it was all good. Besides if you've got decent gear, rain is not a problem. Was a nice cool down anyway.

I was frustrated in locating Rob's place. My GPS was hard to see because I had my phone in my tank pouch & couldn't really see it without taking my eyes off the road-which is never a good idea, especially during a rain storm, on an interstate & in a major city. Couldn't hear it either because of my helmet. So got quite frustrated.

There was a time long ago when I drilled as a USN reservist at the Kansas City Reserve Center that I hung out with Robert & his wife every month after each drill. Robert & I were in the same unit & became great friends during this time.

Robert & his wife, Donna, were very kind to me- a poor college student at the time. Many meals, laughs & good times were shared. But just realized that this was about 26 (ye gads!) years ago & quite a few things have changed around this area since these days. But eventually found my way to their place with very minor problems. Am very grateful that we have managed to retain our friendship all these years. I don't have many friends that have shared this many years with me.

Anyway am fairly pooped this eve. Too much anticipation & tasks kept me up late last eve so am going to turn in soon.

Tomorrow will have us travelling due north from KS
& into NE, where we will cut across the state heading west. Can't say NE has ever been on my bucket list but its not the destination, it is the journey, right? Will be interesting to see what is in NE. I don't think I've ever been in NE so will be new territory! And who can resist going into new turf??
